Ar putea cadea Luna pe Pamant?

Nici o grija, asa ceva nu se poate intampla. Este adevarat ca Pamantul atrage Luna datorita fortei gravitationale – iar Luna, chiar daca mult mai slab, atrage la randul ei Pamantul. Dar Luna se deplaseaza cu o viteza foarte mare, si aceasta de foarte mult timp. Aceasta viteza de 3600 km pe secunda este atat de mare, incat Luna s-ar indeparta fulgerator de Pamant, daca acesta nu ar atrage-o cu forta gravitationala. Este ca si cum un copil ar tine legata o minge cu o sfoara si s-ar invarti pe loc: atat timp cat mingea se misca, doar sfoara o impiedica sa zboare.
